They say it is about the path more than the destination. I think that is true of cooking as well. It can be a group effort.

I used to scuba dive, collecting abalone, scallop, urchin, etc. I'd call people and say to come over the day after. I'd cook abalone or make sushi. The party was in the kitchen. People had a good time.
