Yeah, it's so counter intuitive that it took me a long time to figure out how it would work... and it's ingrained in instinct which is a bit weirder. I do think it's true.

Humans are unusual among mammals because the long developmental period means the males stick around to help the females raise the young. (Anthropologists think of 7 years) I dunno about the monks, I was just trying to figure out how love that would keep the males around, could work at an instinctual level.

I am very open to alternate theories or thoughts.
