Ya know, I read the headline, but barely skimmed the article... Why? Because I was wondering the same question and the headline pretty much explained the whole thing because I was just missing that one piece to put it all together. ... What were they thinking. It's massively energy intensive.

I'm hoping that the rock dust idea for absorbing carbon can work. That might be enough to save us some... The thing is they just talk about adding it to soils without mentioning adding it to the ocean. There may be a reason for that or not.
