LOL. I love that article. There's a lot of advice I could have used when younger, but worse than it not being there, even good modern advice mostly doesn't apply to me.
Posture and style: Once after a lot of gym time, I got down to 225 pounds at 6'3" and my friend said I looked sickly. I'm not only big, I look big and I'm far stronger than I look. Eye contact... no, it's gonna scare or attract trouble. Posture... I considered walking to be an art form. Fashion... forget it. They don't make the clothes too fit me without spending a bundle. Normal fashion doesn't look right anyway. I never really found a look... e3xcept one that would have just made me look far more intimidating.
Forward Movement: My friends wait for me to visit, because I'm going to want to do somehting fun, whether biking, kayaking at the Channel Islands, bicycling at the beach, whatever, I'm going to be doing something. I avoid talking about what I'm working on. I'm a techie and worse. I do have an energy though... that I have to frequently apoologise for.
Giver: One brother is a mechanic. One brother fixes electronics. I'm the builder and the fixer. I solve people's problems. I'm big enough to attract trouble and I have been hurt. In response, I build people and protect them. I use a smile as a tool and I can get results! I work to encourage and inspire. Succeeding is just considered a win.
Skills: Do you want your house fixed or your computer fixed? I got ya covered. I collect skills. Gads, some of the stuff I've tried or been asked to do... Why not? I certainly get it right the second time and often the first time. People come out of the wood work when I say I'm going diving and there will be a sushi dinner the next day.
Self awareness Like Maslow Self awareness or Stoic self awareness? Love ya Marcus. College ended, I've been on my own since.
Check, Check, Check, then I screwed it all up by falling in love.
