I've been working recently on the issue of population decline in developed countries with the premise that while economics are a big part of it, ultimately you have to develop people's moral instincts to make having a family attractive. The best way to develop moral isntincts is to teach basic philsophy at a young age. We don't do that because in the war between science and religion, rather decisively won by science about the time of the Scopes Trial, philosophy was a casualty. Science is a jealous mistress that calims all authority over knowledge, but there are so many things it misses, including any reason to have children. Philsophy has great value, beyond leading to families. It's lessons in Critical Thinking and Logical Fallacies could help with modern dis-information and ... finally the point is... might well be critical to dealing with AI like this article mentions. ... Also, our civilization is based on philosophy so the question arises if it can survive without it, but that's another question.

I work on long term human survival as humans try to adapt to a new ecology after we left the tribal ecology for the farms and cities of civilization
