In Morocco, where there is lots of sun and cheap land, they tried an experiment with making biofuel using saltwater algae. That would have been great, but they had trouble separating the oil from the algae. Too bad, but I wondered why they couldn't just take the algae and use it for fuel in power plants. It might even work in ship engines.
