I'm not going to offer much in the way of opinions on this topic, but your comment reminds me of a crackup from the past.

I was set up with the sister of a friend. She was nice enough, if having the normal number of ... whatever personality issues normal young people have. I have one huge personality flaw. I'm extremely intelligent.

After the date, she told my friend and her sister that I seemed rather dull and boring. They almost yelled "what, he kept his mouth shut". They couldn't believe it. As soon as I open my mouth, you know I'm not dull.... maybe annoying, but not dull.

The next time I saw her, at a "house party" (very low key among good friends), she could only speak about one thing, how much smarter she was than me. I remember looking at my buddy as she went on and said "did I cause this". He raised his beer and said "no".
