I'm a biologist with a deep understanding of evolution. My real quest is to describe how humans can adapt genetically and strategically to survive and develop long term. According to my studies, morality, how we choose right and wrong, is any strategy of survival. I study morality as the intersection of moral instinct and moral beliefs, perhaps hardware and software. We have two basic moral instincts. (1) The "red of tooth and claw" of blind, endless competition commonest in nature. (2) The instinct for cooperation that developed with the evolution of the big brain. The strategies of competition are well known, perhaps summarized as "might makes right". To survive as more than animals though, humans will need to use our cooperative instincts. So what is the optimal strategy (software) for using our cooperative instincts? "Love one another".
I love biology and ecology. It's so revealing.
