If I may dig into this issue with a spoon, that is quite shallowly, it sounds like the women are, right or wrong, perceiving the men as predators. In nature, there are many ways that prey deal with predators. One of the commonest is deterrence. Funny thing, that's also how geopolitics work. Has anyone suggested that if they are that scared, carry a knife. Not to attack or even to defend, but as deterrence? Not only that, but is 1 in 10 women did that, many less predatory men would even risk making a threat. ... I know that my sister used to carry a knife for that purpose.

Funny thing, in philosophy it is pointed out that courage is the most important of virtues, because without it, not only are all other virtues unsupportable under pressure, but also freedom is impossible because you imprison yourself in your own fears. This absolutely applies to men. A man that thinks of themselves as only a victim, is making themselves vulnerable. Courage enlarges one's world.

Ask Nora Vincent about it. She said men deal with far more attacks than women and they have to learn to strategically deal with it... and she would know.
