I really like this, but as always I frame it in biological terms. Violence is just the primary evolutionary strategy of red in tooth and claw, blind, mindless competition. It works pretty well but it won't let humans progress to being more than animals. The other instinctive behavior we evolved is cooperation, which is extremely powerful and which created civilization, our current life support system. That offers a future for humanity to be far more than animals. My belief is that the best solution is to have a conscious knowledge of that choice and it's consequences, like (or the same as) the consequences of a bullying culture. It feeds on itself as you say, because violence is a strong instinct and instincts respond to environmental cues.

You are correct though. The solution is that "We outnumber them.", but we, the people that use cooperative strategies, have to recognize their threat and come together against them. Your essay makes that clear.

Is "moronitude" a word? It should be if not.

.

Minor append if I may... I was such a nerd, ...about one book a day. Trained to be passive because of my mother's fear of conflict and because she knew my other potential nature. I hulk and am extremely quick. My instincts for violence are extremely as unusual as my size. I was trained by older brothers about how to be dangerous and by older sisters to be angry. Because I was passive though, bullies loved messing with me. It was known though that I would give no warning when you crossed the line. Of course bullies know all about walking on the safe side of that line. Luckily for the fools, I was so physically powerful that I felt no threat from them and could protect them from harm at no risk to myself. ...I so messed up the school heirarchy. It's a bit embarrassing. Too bad I didn't know your lesson here. Though I helped some, I could have helped more.

I work on long term human survival as humans try to adapt to a new ecology after we left the tribal ecology for the farms and cities of civilization
